Error-free JIS Order Picking for Bumpers

UHF RFID tracking beyond trade and company boundaries ensures batch size one for automotive suppliers and OEMs

Just-in-sequence production requires smooth and effective process sequences. If components are directly fitted with tags and identified, they can be further identified beyond the boundaries of trades and companies, thus considerably simplifying the verification of the warehouse and outbound process at the supplier, as well as the inbound verification at the OEM.

Turck, for example, implements applications with UHF readers for bumper identification. UHF tags are stuck to the inside of the bumper at the supplier at the beginning of production. They stay on the product for the entire production process and thus enable identification in production, in intermediate storage, outbound verification, during shipment, right through to delivery verification at the incoming goods area of the OEM. This therefore ensures during the production process that each bumper has the correct color and specific features.

Your Benefits

  • UHF RFID smart labels glued directly in the bumper form the basis for highly efficient bumper production and JIS (just-in-sequence) delivery to the automobile manufacturer
  • Efficient solution thanks to the use of passive antennas for locating the bumpers
  • Added value thanks to automated identification of products at the incoming goods area of the customer or OEM
  • Intelligent further processing of RFID data right through to MES and ERP systems

  • Q180 UHF readers are available with Ethernet multiprotocol or Linux as platform for system integrators

  • The signal lights indicate whether the bumper is correctly deposited

  • The tag remains on the product throughout production

Passive antennas are connected directly to the Q180 UHF reader, by which it can check the correct storage of the bumpers in the corresponding transport box. Up to four sensors and actuators can be connected drectly on the reader. The correct storing of the bumpers is also indicated by LED indicators.

The readers are available both as Ethernet multiprotocol variants for use with industrial controllers and also as Linux variants. The multiprotocol variants can be used in industrial networks with Profinet, Ethernet/IP or Modbus TCP and are programmed with Codesys 3. The Linux readers are designed for the direct installation of middleware – particularly for system integrators. The logic for these applications can be programmed directly on the reader.
